Computer problem
1995 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 185000 miles

I just bought a 95 jimmy about 4 days ago. The service engine soon light was on when I bought it. My fiancee took it to midas and hooked it up on diagnostic. Nothing came up. So the mechanic said. I dont know if he truely hooked it up? There were a couple other repairs to be done so I took it to my local mechanic. They also hooked it up and said that into the diagnostic that it would "lose power" I am no mechanic! I dont know what this means? They told me it would take some more "digging around" to find the problem but nothing that would leave me stranded on the side of the road, my mechanic said! What do u think the problem could be? Also my heater quit working so I turned it off and back on again. Nothing! I left it off then about 3 mins later I tried again and it turned back on. What does this mean?

Have the PCM (computer) scanned for codes, Autozone will do it for free. It had something in there or the light wouldnt have been on, and he wouldnt have told you it wouldnt leave you stranded, might be over his head. The heater. If you mean the blower, get a test light when it isnt working and check for power at the motor and be sure the ground is good as well. Does it not work on any speed? If so it could be a bad blower motor, but test it to be sure.
