1991 GMC Jimmy 6 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

My torsion bar is broken and makes a loud knocking sound sometimes if I hit a hard pothole or large bump on turns. I have heard that this is not a big deal and is a pain to fix; more than its worth. What are the possible problems if any that a broken torsion bar can lead to?

A broken torsion bar can cause extral load on other suspension parts including springs struts, shocks, ball joints etc. Torsion bars help with a smooth ride otherwise the car will have to depend on the other parts causing premature wear
