Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1985 GMC Jimmy V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

im looking to change my rear from my 10 bolt to a 14 bolt what model of truck has the best 14 bolt? And what ones has the 6 lugs I want 4.56 but would be happy with 4.10s for now. I roll on 38's on 15x10 with a 4" body lift. I heald that the newer models the rear brake drums are bigger so I could not use my rims?

Ok so tell me why are changing the rear end? I do not know of a 14 bolt that isn't 8 lug either. If you feel that the 10 bolt is to weak then look into Tom's Differentials in Idaho. He is on the web and has the strongest gears and axles around. That is what the mudders are using.

I did read the question you are asking for six lug 14 bolt and it will not happen. So if strength is what you are needing then I have told you how to do that. Now if you want to find a 8 lug 14 bolt then look at full size trucks and suburbans that are 3/4 to 1 ton in the early to late 80's and you will have to count the number of pinion turns per axle turn to determine the gear ratio in it if the tag is missing.

Yeah the truck was in its early 90's, the only good thing about it is that it has a 6 lug pattern. Only if it had the higher gears I wanted.
Thank you for your time.
