The tailgate would not open.

You will need to remove the inner trim panel to access the latch assembly to manually work the lock.

Look for any obvious screws holding it on, if none present it should just pop off. Start in the corner and pull it back so you can look behind it to see where the holders are that are keeping it on. Then use a flat tool to pop the panel off next to the holders
