Electrical problem
2002 GMC C2500 V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

When I press the brakes, I get no tail lights at the back of the truck but the 3rd light on the top of the cab is working. Other than a short from the brake Pedel, is there any kind of switches or relays that might be bad in there that I would need to look for in tracing the issue? I checked the bulbs and they are both ok (no burned or broken filiments) Could they still be bad? It is odd that both lights would have gone out at the same time. What is your thoughts?

Your saying the lower brake lites don't work? Did you check the vehicle stop fuse? Usually the fuse has a bare spot over each leg, you don't have to pull the fuse, Step on the brake, use a testlite at the fuse bare spots, if both spots are hot, the fuse is good and you have voltage on the circuit. The high mount brake lite works off different fuse.
