Service 4 wheeldrive

2000 Sierra with 117'000 miles. The service 4x4 light is coming on. When I put it in 4 wheel drive it doesn't want to go back to 2 wheel drive. I checked the grease in the transfer case and it is good. Do you know of any issues that are common that causes this?

Yes do you have automatic locking hubs? Sometimes they fail and you either get the wheels jammed in 4x or sometimes they wont go into 4 wheel.

To get it out try puting the vehicle in neutral with the brake on to get it into 2x if that dont work take off the brake and try to get 2x.

I would really have to go with if you have automatic hubs they are bad and should be replaced wiht manual oens.
