Fluctuating engine temperature and coolant leak

I have a 1998 Sierra 1500 v6 4x4 with 95,000 miles. I noticed my coolant temperature getting into the 250 range for about 30 seconds and then dropping down to 150-200 and then continue the dance with no regard to speed, idling, etc. Looked under the hood and found an orange-ish liquid dripping out of the bottom left side of the engine. The coolant levels remain good but there is definitely a leak. And the coolant temperatures keeping gong up and then going back down, not staying steady the whole time. Any guesses?

I bet if you look at the sealer between the lower intake and the block right behind the EGR valve you may see it there , if it is its pretty normal for the 4.3 but i would not let it go too long also if you do the job yourself throw some lifters in it , they are a little on the expensive side but worth it while your right there , if you can find exactly where the leak is have the cooling system pressure tested.

Here is a guide to help you: https://www.2carpros.com/articles/radiator-pressure-test
