2 pc drive shaft

Need to know how to separate the two piece drive shaft on this vehicle. There appears to be a seal concealed by a collar with a grease fitting on it at the splined slip joint in the middle of the assy. It rotates but does not screw off the splined shaft. The shafts will not come apart at the slip joint and I'm thinking the seal or collar is keeping them together. I'm resisting using shear force to pull it out.

Thanks,
Jon

I have never seen one that does not come apart.
Normally the collar should unscrew and slide back (clean the shaft where the collar rides and put a ilttle oil to help the collar slide undamaged).
Just remember to mark both ends so they go back together the same way (keeping balance that is).
You might check with GM or a "Mr Driveshaft" place first, but I am almost positive that it comes apart.
I had a lifted blazer with front and back driveshafts like this. It took a little coaxing bit it came apart. I did have to use brute human force (no tools) but I got it (I figured I could damge this by hand).

Good Luck
