As you can see I have a 1995 GMC Sierra with a 5.7l engine in it. Over Christmas I had to put a reman engine into the truck. It's a Jasper engine. I disconnect the brown timing lead and set the timing to -0- like the truck says. I also reset the codes like the truck says also. When I get back from a test drive The timing is retarded again. Probably 8 to 10 degrees. Is this normal?

Mr. Bob

Lets try for a starter the knock sensor it might be holding back on you retarding the timing when there's No pinging -its located on lower right front of engine under the exhaust manifold.

If the KS checks out Have the EST/ESC tested.
