This is usually caused by low freon level. If not enough pressure it will not send power to the compressor.

I have bought one of those recharge and repair cannisters with a guage on it and the guage tells me that the freon level is in the green range, or ok but it also states that the compressor should be running to get an accurate reading. Any help?

Jump the connector on the receiver dryer and see if the compressor turns on, this is the low pressure cut off switch

Thats the shiny aluminum thing that the low side hose connected to when you charged the ac. It will have one switch on it with two wires, just jump the two wires together and the compressor should come on
