The front axel came out of the front pumpkin. I have been told that it is as simple as a snap ring holds the axel in and it fell in. I tried practicing on a junk front pumpkin I have and for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to put this back together? I have never had the front axel just let go like this.

It should not do that unless the axle or the lock clip broke! So now you have the side gear out of place?

I picked up a clip today but I am afraid that I have to split the case to fix it. That clip (c shaped) will just fall in again. Do I have to split it first? I think this is above my automotive skills!

If the clip "fell" out, something else is wrong! Either the clip broke, the end of the axle broke, or the lock pin inside broke, dissasembly is required in all three cases!
