Engine Performance problem
1990 Geo Storm 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive 113000 miles

My geo storm is supposed to get 35 mpg but only getting 17 mpg. I have already replaced O2 sensor, pcv valve, new tune up, cleaned fuel injectors, & replaced fuel filter and still no help. Do you have any suggestions that I havent tried yet? Please help.

What you need to do is take out one spark plug at a time, and check the psi pressure on each cylinder and see if it's close to factory specs. If not then you need to replace rings. AutoZone has the psi pressure gauge for rent.

Are you getting a check engine light? I had a similar issue. Got around 16 mpg highway. Mine turned out to be a dead Throttle Position Sensor. It was reading full throttle at all times and thus, bad mileage. Hope that helps.
