Shakes or Wobbles problem
1997 Geo Prizm 4 cyl Automatic 248708 miles

i am trying to figure out why it shakes it only shakes when I go over 45mph then it starts shaking and wobbling really bad was told that I need a front wheel alingment is that true

Either an alignment (camber, toe) or a steering/suspension component has failed. Try this first:

Raise car, put on stands. Grasp tire and push/pull both horizontally and vertically, if any movement then possible wheel bearing, ball joint, tie rod, control arm bushing.

Check CV boots for any signs of leakage or cuts/rips in rubber boot.
