1996 Geo Prizm Gas tank door release lever

My son accidently broke off the release lever, on the driver side floor, to the gas tank door. I called a chevy dealer and they said the part has been discontinued and all the junk yards in my area near Pittsburgh do not have them. Any thoughts on how it can be repaired?

Call Toyota, just tell them it is a Prizm and if the Toyota part will work.

It would probably be better if you take the old cable off so you can compare it to the Toyota cable. You could also check junk yards for the Toyota part.
