1996 Geo Prizm ENGINE LACKS POWER

My car started to shake when I gave it gas, and has now power at all to get up to speed. I put no. 1 piston to top dead center and the rotor button was pointing to no. 1 plug wire on the distrib. Timming is ok right? The code it gives is PO302 wich says no.2 cyl miss fire. I changed the spark plugs and check for spark at all wires. Could I have a blocked exhaust. My next step is to check compression.

You followed the correct procedure for TDC#1.

You will have to check fuel pressure with a mecahnical gauge, and injector firing with a noid light.

It is also possible #2 has a bad plug or wire.

If CAT is clogged, you can unbolt it from exhaust pipe and visually inspect it for overheating.
