My Prizm's transmission is A245E, 4 sp with O/D.
What is the ideal speed to get the best MPG?

The slower the better :).

But drive the speed limit or just below and avoid rapid starts. Just imagine an egg on the pedal.

Thanks.I am getting 35MPG in summer with 1.8lt engine and 4sp transmission.90% on highway at 70-80 mph at 2400-2600RPM. If I go at 65 mph RPM is lower. Is higher RPM a way of saying high fuel consumption?

Keep the revs down, some new cars have a vacuum gauge installed that will help you keep engine within best mileage.
