1995 Geo Metro Clear trouble codes

I have 95 Geo Metro 1.0L 3 Cyl. 5 Speed. Retrieved trouble code 23 IAT sensor. Would it cause emission idle test fail and how do I get check engine light to clear? Tried to disconnect battery and used Schuck's OBD code reader with adapter plug but it can't read or clear. Help. THANKS

Did you replace the intake air temp sensor? If not and it is a hard faliure then it will turn light on when you start the car after you disconnected the batt.
