I recently had an engine overhaul, after putting everything together fifth gear and reverse gear are not engaging it's as if something is blocking. I never opened the gear box. What could be the problem?

Hi,

If this just started since the engine was reinstalled, my first suspect is the transmission shift linkage isn't either connected correctly, something is bent, or something has come apart.

Keep in mind, fifth gear and reverse are operating on the same shaft in the transmission, so check to see if the linkage is properly connected. This issue wouldn't have happened by installing the engine.

Also, this specific model isn't offered in the US, so I don't have pics or tech info for it. However, I'll try my best to help.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
