Car has been having issues with gearbox behaving erratically.
Took it to a mechanic, he did full transmission fluid and service apparently.
He apparently put 7 liters of fluid into it (which seems excessive to me) but then on the way home it started doing the same thing again but even worse.
A friend ran an OBDII on it today and it reported one DTC - P1890.
Does this mean that the gearbox is potentially damaged as I have read it may mean this, or perhaps a PCM issue?
What would you recommend I do consider I just paid $700 to have it addressed?
I can't really take it back to the original mechanic as he is over an hour and a half drive away.
I feel as though this is something he should have found if my friend managed to find the code that easily.
He does have a significant amount of experience working on cars so I am confident that what he has told me today is definitely correct as it is displaying all the symptoms he said it probably would have been doing.

Chances are the transmission needs to be rebuilt. Sometimes the new fluid will help or hurt the situation which it sounds like it is the later, there is a chance the wrong fluid was installed, it must be:

Type. Use Honda ATF-Z1

You are correct it should only take 3.1 liters unless it was flushed, I would call the mechanic back to ask him these questions and get back to me. Also, ask him if the fluid was burnt when he was changing it.

If you put the car in drive and it revs to about 3000 RPM before it will move the transmission is bad.

Please upload videos in your response of what it is doing so I cant tell for sure what is going on.
