Gas gauge registers E after parked over night

I had 3/4 tank and only went short distance. Van sat for four hours and when I started it gas light was on and registered E. I filled it up to 3/4 tank and the gauge did register it. After parking again for half an hour the gauge was on E again. No odor of gas or leaks underneath.

Check your engine oil to be sure you do not have a bad injector that is dumping gas into the engine. If nothing there the next this would be a bad sending unit or someone stealing gas. If it was leaking that amount you should smell it, unless it is in a pressure line and it is spraying the fuel onto the ground while the engine runs.

Try starting it and let it idle and look close for leaks. No leaks = most likely issue then would be a bad sending unit.
