Gas filling issue?

I have had this car for about 4 years. Maybe a month ago it started to stall/stop or sound full when I put any gas into the tank, even if it’s empty. Sometimes if you push it in sideways and put some pressure the gas will fill up to a full tank. But other times the pump will not fill the tank more than a gallon without stopping or spraying at me. It makes the same noises as it would when the it is filled to the top and gargles. Nothing is lit up on the dash as if it was a malfunction. Nothing is wrong with the car except for when filling it with gas.

Hello,

It sounds like that there is a problem with the fuel tank evaporation/ventilation system.

A good read:

A good video, applicable to most vehicles:

Possible issues could be faulty activated charcoal fuel vapor filter or ventilation valve.
The charcoal filter can get damaged if the fuel tank has been previously overfilled.
See image below for activated charcoal fuel vapor filter.

Cheers, Boris
