Gas cap light stays on
I replaced Gas cap, l evap leak pump and purge solenoid. Not sure if it a bad hose. Do I need to do a smoke test?

Hi,

This is interesting. I just dealt with this same issue on a 2013 Patriot this week. The final repair was the purge valve, but I do recommend smoke testing it. That way, you can eliminate it being a hose or leak issue.

One thing I had to do on the 2013 was take a skuff pad and remove rust from the filler tube where the fuel cap sealed. Check for that as well.

Several of the hoses on the EVAP system are that hard plastic type and can crack, so smoke testing is a good idea.

I'm not sure if you need them, but I've attached the directions for replacing the purge valve below. If you have other questions, let me know.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe
