Fuel smell

Hello, have you looked for any obvious fuel leaks under the hood, fuel injectors, fuel lines? If the smell if that bad you should be able to see wet lines while the car is running and fuel is under pressure in the lines. Leaking fuel can be extremely hazardous under the hood. I would make a very good visual inspection, fuel and a hot engine are not a good combination.
