That is a high pressure system. The spec is 55-61 PSI and it has to remain in that range. You also want to pay attention to what the pressure does when the key is shut off. Does it hold the pressure or immediately leak down?

I have bought two new pumps and called several auto stores and was told the PSI should be 14 and the truck still will not start.

Both new pumps only pump 14 PSI.

No, it should not be 14. That is for a TBI engine but you have a Vortec. That is why I asked for the VIN code. You may be buying the wrong pumps.

The one that is made for your vehicle. You have to be giving them some wrong information. Make sure they are aware you have engine code "W". That matters.
