I'm getting fuel to the mechanical pump but not to the carburetor, it has a brand-new pump and carburetor.

Hi,

Because of the model year, I have very limited info. However, if the fuel pump is new and good, the next question is if the fuel pump pushrod was installed. If it was and you are certain the pump is good (even though it's new), the next concern is the lobe is worn on the camshaft.

On the cam, there is a lobe that the push rod rides on. If it is damaged, then it won't push the push-rod far enough to pump fuel.

I don't want to admit this, but because it was a while since I've worked on one, I can't remember if it was the camshaft or crankshaft that had the lobe on it to actuate the pump. Is the pump located low on the engine block or up higher?

Let me know.

Joe
