Hi,

My car listed above has a problem adding gas, the fuel nozzle stops every few seconds and most of it spits out the neck. Even if I use a gas can.

No check engine light on.

Going to try and replace the filler neck. The manual says you have to drop the tank, has anyone done this without dropping the tank?

If so, any tips/tricks for getting the neck out this way?

Thanks for your input.

Yep, what happens is the vent tube gets clogged, there is no way to replace the filler tube without removing the tank, please run the fuel down to empty before doing the job. This way the tank will be lighter and more manageable. Also, are you sure the tank is empty? Sometimes, the fuel gauge goes bad and shows empty when in fact is it full? Check out the images (below). Please upload an image or short videos in your response of the problem, so we can see what's going on.

Recently changed the fuel pump, so I know the fuel level is about 1 gallon. No worries there.

Some background information... The car has been sitting and the gas went bad, (smelly) replaced the pump and car started right up, runs somewhat poorly, even after putting in sea foam. Has about 1 gal of fuel in tank.

Could the anti siphon valve in the neck be bad? I tried to fish a siphon hose down the neck, but couldn't get very far.

I don’t have any trouble codes and no check engine light on either.
Could this mean the evap purge solenoid under the hood
And the solenoid in the charcoal canister pack are still Good?
Thanks for your continued assistance.

Yes, there is a anti roll over valve inside the tank that can get stuck so I would keep an eye out for that when you have the tank down, also, I would remove all of the old gas out and clean the inside of the tank the best you can. The EVAP system should be okay so don't worry about that. Let me know how it goes.

Just to confirm, Is the anti rollover valve in the tank or in the neck?

If it’s in the tank, is it serviceable or does the tank have to be replaced if it’s bad?

Thank you

It can be in either, I would disassembly the tank and inspect the roll over valve if there is one. Make sure it is loose and can move. Please upload an image or video of the problem.
