What segment of the VIN# identifies the car as California or Federal? And what indicates which?

The VIN does not indicate emissions coverage. This is done by the sales codes that are tied to each VIN. So, if you run the VIN in the GM database you will come back with how the vehicle is Federal or CA emissions compliant.

However, as it relates to the injectors, I only show one option for this engine and it is labeled Federal, which means it is 50 state complaint including CA.

If the parts store is giving you an option, then I would select the federal option. If you want to confirm this, I would just call a dealer and ask them to run your VIN and send you the option codes which will give the detail that you need. I will say though if it doesn't specifically state CA emissions, then it is federal emissions complaint.

Take a look at the info attached on the VIN and injector part numbers. Let us know if you have other questions. Thanks
