My fuel gauge seems to not be working properly, when I turn my car on, the gauge will go to full and it stays there all the time until I turn it off, the gauge goes to empty. It is always reading full when im driving, what could be the cause of this?

Hi Edgar,

More than likely your fuel sending unit sensor is not working properly. Here is the test and repair procedures depending on what you find.

When this sensor does not read properly any more it sends the wrong voltage to the fuel gauge which displays the wrong fuel level. Basically, this is just a sensor on the sending unit in the fuel tank that senses the fuel level and sends the corresponding voltage to the display.

Let me know if you need more info but if you follow this test, it will lead you to either the sensor or sending unit itself.

Thank you for using 2CarPros.
