Fuel coming back out of tank when filling?

When filling the tank, I got about a gallon and a half in, and it started spewing back out of the tank and wouldn't accept any more gas. I let the tank get much more empty than usual quarter tank and fill it back up. My guess is that the fuel pump might have gotten the filter clogged up. But I really don't know. help

It sounds like you have an issue with the filler neck, they can collapse interlay and cause this issue. Or the vent valve for the EVAP system needs to be replaced, here is the location of the valve so you can check it out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
