About 60% of the time when I press the fuel cap release on the inner door of my car the cover will not pop open. I've been trying to pry it open, but that usually doesn't work. I just have to keep trying and it will eventually open.

How do I repair it to make it open consistently?
Thanks!

Hi,

When you press the button can you hear the actuator click?

If so, sounds like the fuel door actuator is sticking. Unfortunately, the manual that we use does not provide a process to replace this on your specific vehicle. However, I did find a general process online.

Here is the part number of the actuator:

MDX5056890A

You can check the continuity like it states to do but this is to test for a failed actuator so if may pass this test. However, if it is not clicking when you press the button then it may fail this test.

Let us know what you find. Thanks

Okay. If you hear a click then have someone else press the button and you use something to gently pry on the door and if it pops open then the spring in the door has failed and more than likely needs to be replaced. However, if you want to, there are a lot of videos out there of home remedies of people adding things inside the door that will cause it to pop open when it releases.
