Front end noise when turning

When I turn sharply right or left the front end bumps noisily what would cause this?

To start, if you can get a recording of this, it will help. However the issue sounds like a bushing but just to be clear, this issue happens when turning the wheel from full left and right? So you don't have to be moving, it is just when you turn the wheel?

Also, it will help to know which suspension type you have because there were options back then. Either a coil spring, leaf spring, or torsion bar. More than likely this engine came with a coil spring but if special ordered it could be different.

If it is a coil spring, the most likely cause is a spring perch. When these are worn they will actually pop when you are turning.

If you have a torsion bar then it could be the control arm bushing.
