I got into my ford ka, 1997, (90,000miles) this morning and it was ok, got to a roundabout to change my gear and I couldnt change it, the only way I could was if I turned the engine off and put it into gear and start that way, does this mean my clutch has gone? Is it expensive? :(

Does this only happen in that gear or are you having problems now in all gears? Next, how does the clutch pedal feel, normal or weaker?

I've had exactly the same problem. Originally I was told it was due to the lack of brake fluid (with it running on a hydraulic system it effects the clutch too). However there seems to be a leak as the brake fluid now empties itself daily.

I've spoken to a few garages and been told it could be a simple  30 patch the leak up job or  250 new clutch/gearbox. It could be worth checking your brake fluid reguarly and if it empties keep an eye out for any signs of leaking on your drive. If there isn't any it may be leaking into the engine
