Hello, I need troubleshooting a braking problem with my ford windstar. It doesn't seem to stop with power. And if I brake hard I hear a winding down sound coming from the front pads. I believe it maybe that the rear brakes are not working corretly. I have hanged the rear shoes and tried bleeding the lines. I have taken it to the mehanic and he can't seem to find the problem. Abs never kicks in no matter how hard the pedal is pressed. Please help.

Hi there,

Is the peal harder to press, dose it feel like you are standing on a brick and the car won't slow?

Brake pedal feels normal, may just have to press down on it more to stop the vehicle. For example if I am goming fast and if I slam on the brakesthe wheels do not seem to lock up and the anti- locks never kick in instead its just comes to a slow stop with that winding down sound coming from the front wheels.

Have you checked that the pads are ok? This may be an issue with the ABS control motor, have you done a scan? Not all faults will set a MIL.
