1999 Ford Windstar Heater controls

Heater temp control makes a steady rithimic clicking sound as it is moved to warmer position. The clicking frequency increases the further right (warmer) you move the control. I need to access the control motor and other parts behind the dash but I don't know how to remove the dash area without damageing it.

REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery. CAUTION: The slider knobs are illuminated using a LEDs. Use care not to damage them when removing the slider knobs.

Remove the ash receptacle.
Remove the audio unit.

Remove the screws.

Unsnap the panel.

Disconnect the connectors.

Remove the control assembly.
Remove the screws.

INSTALLATION

To install, reverse the removal procedure. NOTE: When the battery is disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

Hey also, it looks like you may have some recalls on your vehicle. The dealer may fix these for free. Please contact the dealer service department, give them the VIN number of your car and have them check on these to see if they apply to you. I would check these out also.....
