1999 Ford Windstar Can my hubby rebuild the tranny himself

We just bought this van one month ago today and the tranny went out on us today. My husband is a certified tech and can do just about anything with cars he needs to find out if he will be able to rebuild the tranny himself or if this is one of those tranny that require a special tool to do the job.

Hi there,

if he wants to re build the transmission, he will need to study a repair manual first, he will need this to ensure all clearances & torques are correct this will advise on any special tools required, so I would get the manual. And decide if he is up to doing it and he has all the relevant tools as well.
