Transmission quit pulling

Engine had a miss in it / I accelerated and felt a bang. Then transmission quit pulling in all gears. And missfire went away. What could cause this

Make sure the trans fluid is full. Check to see if either of the front axles have come apart. If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
