My van occassionally will sputter and spit when put into drive and the vehicle is warm but once I work the gas pedal enough to get it going it works fine. The check engine light has been on since I bought the thing (seems common among these vehicles) but it comes and goes. I have found that if you do not keep the battery fully charged all kinds of weird things happen like the interior lights coming on by themselves but I do not think this has anything to do with this problem. Do you think it could be an oxygen sensor?

Hi Rwest, Welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation and selecting us as your auto repair site Feel free to ask questions at anytime and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2010

What you need to do here is get the computer scanned for code/s there's a problem in the engine management system this is your starting point of diagnosis. Your present symptoms could be caused by the idle air control valve, throttle position sensor and mas airflow sensors.
