Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Windstar 6 cyl Automatic 90,000 miles

Our van has been giving us issues. We have replaced the fuel pump and the relay. We have replaced spark plugs and wires and have had the parts store use their diagnostic machine and it told us to replace oxygen sensor 1.
We did all of that, and the van still dies while we are driving down the road, You can put it in neutral, start it back up, and off you go, for a little while. It also dies when you stop at a light or stop sign, but not every stop.
We are at the end of our rope, What could our problem be.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? Have you checked the idle air control valve?

Three things you might want to check also, the most important is synchronizer magnet pickup located topside next to the water pump, next try the idle air control (IAC). The IAC controls the idle when you put a load on the engine like putting in gear or turning the steering wheel, etc. Last check and see if the fuel shut off switch is properly working, some it will shut off the engine and then it will feed fuel again, I think this is the lease of your problem.
