1996 Ford Windstar Coolant mixing with Oil

I have a problem with my 1996 Ford Windstar minivan. I am noticing Oil is getting into the coolant reseviour and that coolant is getting the Oil (seen on the dipstick). What causes this? Could it be anything that does not require serious engine work?

I doubt it won't require major engine work, although I'm not an expert it happened to my own Windstar and it had a cylinder head gasket blown letting water into the chamber through valves so I could see white smoke (vapour) from the exhaust. It was discovered on time as continuing the use of your van under this condition can damage the whole engine.
