Engine Performance problem
1995 Ford Truck V8 Four Wheel Drive Automatic

hi I am looking at buying a 95 f150 with a 302ci engine.
the head gasket needs to be replaced I am being told. Any idea how hard it is to do and how long it should take? I have mechanical experience but I have never done a head gasket on this engine before. Is it worth doing?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

It will take an experienced repair shop around 8 hours to do this repair job. This is around $450 in labor costs. The head gaskets themselves only cost around $35 each so you can save a lot of money if you can do the repairs yourself. Would you like detailed instructions on removing and replacing the head gaskets?

Thanks for using 2CarPros. Com!

Do you think its worth the time doing it. The motor has a little over 120k on it. Body is really good for the year.

If you think its worth me doing, I could use detailed instructions to make sure I dont run into an issue after its running down the road.

Well that is really your decision to make. If you like the vehicle and it runs good other than the gasket and if you do have the time to make these repairs correctly, without risking harm to yourself or damaging the vehicle further, then I would probably go for it. But then again, I don't know how much you are purchasing it for? Nor do I know what it books for in the Kelley Blue Book. You can search the blue book value at the KBB website and then estimate in the probably at least one whole day of work on it and just weigh it out to see if you think it is worth the money and time. Personally I do like the '90s F 150's they seem to do real well, but that's just me.

What size engine is it? 5.0?
