As soon as you open the door to git in the car all the dash lights come on and stay on. They stay on even when you drive it. But git out of the car and have the keys in your hand and close the door and the dash cluster will go off in about 3 minutes.

Hello and thanks for donating

First, make sure your interior dome light switch is not turned on. If it's not then check the relays. If all is good there as well then the interior dome light switch may be at fault.

The dome light works normal.

It is the dash lights or cluster which ever way you want to say it. Try to open the door and ALL the DASH LIGHTS come on. If you sit inside the car and don't put in the ignition key they will go otu in a couple of minutes. If you put in the ignition key and start the car ALL the dash lights will stay on till you turn the car off. With the car running and use the turn signals the dash lights do not blink they stay on, both of them. And you can not hear the blinkers work, but the out side lights are blinking.

Yes, but the dome light switch is what controls the dimming of the dash lights as well. It definitely seems as though there is a wiring issue around the steering column area, either one of the switches (turn signal, dome etc.) Or behind the instrument cluster itself.
