Engine Performance problem
1997 Ford Thunderbird 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 115000 miles
A friend asked me to replace her egr valve and I just wanted to know the level of difficulty for this task.
I think its at the top/rear of engine behind the upper intake but I cant remember if there is anything in the way.
Can anyone show a pic of the under hood decal if you have a similar vehicle or better yet a view of the location itself?
Disconnect EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube from EGR valve.
Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR valve.
Remove two retaining bolts for the EGR valve.
Remove EGR valve and gasket from vehicle.
Clean EGR valve sealing surfaces with a plastic-tipped scraper to remove any residual EGR valve gasket material.
Position EGR tube into EGR valve and loosely connect EGR tube nut to EGR valve. NOTE: Do not tighten EGR tube nut on EGR valve at this time.
Position EGR valve gasket and EGR valve.
Install two bolts retaining EGR valve. Tighten bolts to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb ft).
Tighten EGR tube nut to 35-45 Nm (26-33 lb ft).
Connect vacuum hose to EGR valve.
