1962 Ford Thunderbird synthetic oil in engine

Ijust bought this car and would like to change over to synthetic oil. The engine is a 390 4bl. Would it be a good idea and if so which brands would you recommend?

Stick with the same weight/viscosity as suggested, I use the most expensive ones I can find on the shelf and usually I use some Lucas engine stabilizer also! I myself am a Penzoil man, but valvoline is very good also and have nothing against it.
