I need to know what it should cost to have the front tie rods replaced. I am told that the bushings or rubber mounts at the end of the rods are not replaceable and I would need to replace the entire rod and ball joints? Is this true and if so is it a big job? I need help I have been given outrageous repair price for this job and the car isn't even worth that much, can you help?

By your description it sounds like lower control arms instead of tie rods or maybe BOTH? Yah, these tempos are KNOWN for this stuff! American quality at it's finest? The bushings can be replaced with a homade one. I made one out of a cross section of airconditioning hose!
