When my Ranger is idling my electrical guage shows
fluctuation from about mid normal to peaking 18 amps
My lights fluctuate with this, I've had the alternator tested both on & off the vehicle & it passes, when driving the vehicle the fluctuation increases,
Any suggestions?

You mean driving vs idling?I would get a scrap yard replacement and see if problem persists. Could be a ground or wiring glitch?Maybe battery is low on water/weak cell? This is not my area of expertise so i'm guessing. Seems like something is effecting regulator operation.
