I have a 1985 Ford Tempo. 2.3 TBI The belt tightener pulley is gone resulting in the water pump not functioning. I had a mechanic advise the head gasket is 'seeping' coolant. Under 15 lbs of pressure (from pressurized pump monitor) the cooland appeared to be seeping from areas around the head gasket. The coolant was not dripping but an obvious seeping. Will this continue to get worse in the near future? OR would it be possible to repair the water pump by either replacing the water pump or reinstalling a new tightener pully? Thank you.

Replace the pulley! It's critical for pump operation! Maybe seapage will then stop! Another possible solution if pulley does not eliminate leaks is to lower water system pressure by using a lower pressure cap!
