Taurus 97 Sho Help Please

1997 FORD TAURUS

I have been trying to replace the Struts on the back of my car but am having difficulty in doing so. I believe there is something wrong with the Semi Active Ride Control. Anyone who is willing to give me a walk through on repairing this would be much appreciated.
