Starting a car that has not run for a long time.

I am about to purchase a 1991 Ford Taurus GL, V6/3.0 that has 14,400 miles on it. It hasn't been driven for two years but did have a major service for fluids, brakes, etc. Two years ago.

I tried jumping it but it wouldn't start. I could only get a "clicking" sound.

I am planning on getting a new battery but am wondering if it will likely start and, if so, what should been done next to make it servicable. Can you help?

Thank you,
Ron Ooley

Fuel treatment to remove any moisture in the fuel tank. Change the oil. Sounds like the battery being replaced will make it start
