I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic. I want to change the transmission fluid. I can drain about 4 quarts of fluid from the transmission pan under the car. How do I get the rest of the fluid out of the transmission? It holds about 12 quarts.

I agree with justanold and the reason is that the rest is in the torque converter. I will say that there is lots of controversy about flushing 15 year old transmissions if it hasn't been done frequently. The controversy involves the loosening of misc material and contamination that may end up in the hydraulics causing valve sticking or other problems.
