Transmission problem
2007 Ford Taurus 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 2007 Ford Taurus SEL with 85,000 miles on it. The problem I am having it seems like now when I drive on the highway the RPM's are higher than what it should be and Im not to sure why. I drive 50 miles a day, one way, to work. This is all highway and I set the cruise control at 75. When I do this the RPM's show it at 2600. To me this seems very high. Any ideas/suggestions as to what it could be? Thanks.

I dont think 2600 rpm at 75 mph is excessive. Why do you?

Maybe its just me but I could swear that it was never like that before (about a month ago). I wanna say it was usually at about the 2200 - 2300 mark. I could be wrong though.

2200-2300 should get you up to maybe 55-60 mph!
